Metro Credit Union

Every year, on the third Thursday in October, credit unions around the world celebrate the credit union movement and the impact we have within our communities. It’s a time to reflect on how far we’ve come as community partners offering financial education, resources, and tools to help our members make decisions about their finances with confidence. This year, the focus of International Credit Union Day is “one world through cooperative finance.” We had the special honor of hosting many of our colleagues from 20 credit unions around the world at our corporate headquarters in Chelsea this past summer as part of the World Council of Credit Unions conference held in Boston. It was an especially meaningful opportunity to learn from each other and share a little about what we do.

International Credit Union Day is special to us here at Metro. To celebrate, each of our employees received a customized Metro cookie with a note of thanks and photos highlighting just a few of the many ways we all get involved both at Metro and in the communities we serve. 

Not coincidentally, the day also falls during Metro’s Member Appreciation Week. Today in our Chelsea main branch — in addition to refreshments and a chance to enter to win $1,000 that are part of the weeklong festivities — members who stopped in were also treated to a surprise prize wheel where they had the opportunity to spin the wheel and select a prize.
